A Career Built on Connection

How one bachata night in Temple Bar changed everything

Siobhan's journey into Latin dance wasn't planned. Back in 2010, she was working as a fitness coordinator in Dublin, managing gym schedules and helping people with their New Year resolutions. Then one night, a friend dragged her to a bachata social at Temple Bar. She'd never danced before — not really. But something about it clicked. The music, the connection with her partner, the way everyone in the room was just enjoying themselves without worrying about being perfect.

That single night planted a seed. She started attending regularly. Took classes. Got serious about learning properly. By 2015, after completing her International Dance Instructor certification through the International Latin Dance Association and training directly with renowned choreographer Miguel Santos, she was teaching her first classes. But here's what she noticed almost immediately: the studios were full of people aged 20-35. Where were the people her parents' age? Where were the folks who'd always wanted to dance but thought they'd missed the boat?

She moved to Cork and started experimenting. Small classes. Different timing. A more relaxed, judgment-free approach. Within two years, she'd developed what would become her signature 'Mature Movers' curriculum — a program specifically designed for people over 45 who want to learn salsa and bachata without the intimidation. No complicated footwork on day one. No pressure to be perfect. Just real instruction, genuine community, and the discovery that your best dancing years might actually be ahead of you.

Since then, she's helped over 800 adults across Ireland — Dublin, Cork, Limerick — find their confidence on the dance floor. She runs the weekly Temple Bar bachata nights that've become legendary in the Dublin social dance scene. She organizes community gatherings in Limerick that feel less like classes and more like coming home. And now, at czechiaglen Ltd, she's channeling 14 years of hands-on experience into educational content that proves one thing: it's never too late to dance.
